      When you talk of ancient heroes, you can't leave out Alexander the Great. He conquered Persia with lightning speed, then campaigned as far away as India. There are a lot of requests made for information on Alexander, but this latest one asks for an anecdote about the great leader.

                    1. Written anecdote of a king
                    You want an anecdote about Alexander the Great? Hmm. I think I have something in my library. It described him as a person who was not make decisions influenced by legends or superstitions. Look at my archaeology shelf. I believe the town that appears in the anecdote was located on the west coast of the Anatolian peninsula.

                    2. Gordian Knot
                    In one conquered town, there was a rope tied between a post and an ox-cart called the "Gordian Knot". There was a propgecy saying the one who untied the know would rule all of Asia. It just so happened that the great king himself cut the knot with his sword. The king then decreed "destiny is what man carves out for himself."

                    3. Sword of the king
                    Alexander the Great demonstrated to his men that people are capable of achieving their goals by slashing the Gordian Knot. The town that this anecdote occurred in was apparently near the west coast of Turkey. We might find something that proves this anecdote true. Let's go take a look.
