Revival of the western Roman empire
          No Expiration
          Seville Adventurer's Guild
You know the Western Roman Empire, don't you? It fell to ruins by the end of the 5th Century, but it was revived by the great Charlemagne. This job is to find out more about Charlemagne--a relic of some sort would be nice. His castle was apparently near Amsterdam, so check around there.

                        1. Link between politics and religion
You're referring to Charles the Great of the Carolingian dynasty. Charles the Great was crowned Roman emperor by Pope Leo III. However, western Rome did not agree, as territories of western Rome are different compared to today. I believe it has its advantages and disadvantages. Here, have a look at my records on these relics.

                        2. Coronation of Charles
On Christmas day in the year 800 AD, Charles was crowned Roman emperor. In doing so, the pope was able to exert his power over eastern Rome. Although Charles the Great himself ruled from Aachen in inland Amsterdam, his crown was recently moved to a church in Bordeaux.

                        3. Trouble with the crown
It looks like the crown of Charles the Great is in a church in Bordeaux. Perhaps it was taken there for safety as there are religious disputes occurring in parts of northern Europe. Let's check the pews in the back on the right of the church in Bordeaux.

The jeweled crown used when Charlemagne was crowned Holy Roman Emperor. With this, the Western Roman Empire was revived and a link forged between Imperial and Papal authority, creating a force capable of fighting the Byzantine Empire.
