1. Glory for Egypt
Glory to Egypt. Glory to Isis. Come hither, my victorious general. come rejoice with us. the reward you requested was the freedom of a prisoner. However, the reward I shall give you is the princess' hand in marriage and my rule over this land when I one day descend from this throne.

2. For the homeland
The other Nubian prisoners tell a devastated Aida that Nubia will rise again and that they plan on escaping. Unfortunately, they needed her to find out the roads the Egyptian army takes from Radames. If she didn't help them, nubia would be attacked again... And so, Aida decides to try and deceive Radames for the sake of her homeland.

3. Aida's betrayal
Aida insists to Radames that they "throw everything away and escape to Nubia". Radames agrees and tells her that they can make their escape through the Nabata valley where the army will not be. But, upon obtaining this information Aida leaves Radames and escapes together with the other prisoners.

4. The princess's offer
Radames, now realizing that he was betrayed, goes to the priest and confesses that he was the one that told Aida of the army's secret. Radames was sentenced to be buried alive for his crime of treason... the princess, who still loved him dearly, said that she could save his life if only he would marry her. But, Radames refused and said he wanted to accept his punishment.

5. The temple's crypt sleeps two
On the day he was to be buried alive Aida appeared. She probably heard of his punishment and hurried there on her own. By order of the princess the two were sentenced to be buried alive together. The princess prayed for their happiness in the next world and put up a memorial gravestone for them where they were buried.

6. Radames and Aida
Aida betrayed Radames for the sake of her homeland. Radames then turns down a marriage proposal from the princess and chooses to take his punishment of being buried alive. According to the legend, Aida appears on the day his sentence is to be carried out and the two are buried alive together. The princess then erects a memorial gravestone for them.
