Navigator Prince's Fleet
The Portuguese Navigator Prince... You mean Prince Henrique, right?
A fleet that he employed once landed on this land. One of the people in it was called Dinis Dias I think...
I'm pretty sure that his descendants are living in Lisbon.

Story of Admiral Dias
Dinis Dias is my father. Both my father and grandfather served under Prince Henrique.
After the conquest of Ceuta, Prince Henrique was inaugurated as the Grand Master of the Order of Christ. ... The Order of Christ was composed of the surviving branch of the Knights Templar which was dissolved in France.

A Surviving Branch of the Knights Templar
When the Knights Templar were persecuted in France and were forced to dissolve, their fortune was taken by the King of France as well.
But our nation is different. The King of Portugal at the time protected the Knights which had its headquarters in Tomar by sanctioning them as 'The Order of Christ,' greatly evaluating their contributions to the Reconquista.

The Successor of Legacy
By becoming the Grand Master of the Order of Christ, all fortunes that the Knights templar owned fell under Prince Henrique's management.
For decades up until his death, he put ll the fortune into the maritime business, sending a number of voyagers off to the seas.

Resembling the Holy Land
The Knights Templar built a convent in Tomar during the Reconquista period.
Because of that, the round-shaped church there is modeled after the Church of Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem that is said to have the Mosque of Omar and Jesus Christ's tomb, just like the other churches the Knights templar had built.

Start of the Expansion
After the convent became the possession of the Order of Christ, all the Order's Grand Masters afterwards used the convent as a residence as well.
later on, Prince Henrique the Navigator became the Grand Master and began work on constructing new corridors, making it what it is today.

From the Knights Headquarters
Prince Henrique followed the previous Grand Masters of the Order of Christ by residing in this convent too.
But because he also managed the domestic affairs and maritime business, he resided more often in Lisbon or, the Prince's Town, Sagres.

Rumors about the Prince
This is strictly a rumor, but it's said that the Prince visited Sagres outside of official business too. Apparently, he had a good friend who was a voyager in the maritime school in Sagres and went to meet them...
Although, it's not entirely clear if that's true.

What the Knights Accomplished
The Knights Templar was first formed for the prupose of recapturing the Holy Land. And the end goal of the Order of Christ was the same.
...They were not able to recapture the Holy Land, but I believe that they were one of the first steps that opened up the world.

Eyeing on the Horizons
The Portuguese Knights Templar survived as the Order of Christ which has been recorded in history, having Prince Henrique as its Grand Master.
The convent used as a headquarter is apparently still in Tomar, north of Lisbon. ...If you carefully look from the sea off the coast, you might be able to see the convent which is still expanding.
