The Ruins of a Fortress City
The palace of the legendary hero Menelaus is thought to be part of the ruins of a fortified town in the South of the Peloponnese Peninsula. It's built on the slope of a steep mountain.

Development of the City
It's said that at first, only a castle was built, as defense against adversariesn but soon a castle town sprung up as well. Monasteries decorated with fesco murals, churches which became exemplary of Byzantine architecture, many buildings were constructed.
Exit the city through the South gate, ans you can find them by the ruins to the Southwest.
