  • Emperor Frederick III
Hungary, faced with the threat of the Ottoman Turks, follow King Matthias to Austria in the Holy Roman Empire. Infuriated with the lack of action of Emperor Frederick III after the fall of the Byzantine Empire, Matthias led his forces in an attempt to gain the Imperial throne himself.

Well, we went back in time on the world clock (15th century, period 4) and got this event now. This one is a Holy Roman Emperor election, and there's only two outcomes depending on who wins.

If Matthais I wins (the current likely outcome ATM)...

-Decrease in Otto influence on ports in the East Mediterranean Sea.
-Increase in Venice influence on ports that fall under the Italy/Southern France cultural area.
-Decrease in Prestige with Portugal.

If Frederick III wins (the historical ending)...

-Reduction of tariff (taxes) in ports in the Eastern Mediterranean.
-Market downturn in ports that fall under the Germany cultural area.
-Increase in Spanish influence in ports that fall under the Iberia cultural area.

Whichever candidate will do the most to boost Nanban profits(ie: increase Alcohol Trade purchases) will win, because the Nanbaners have the most ducats to back whichever candidate will increase their profit margin.

None of them. But Mattias have ganador drop boost.

I wish people would think a bit more politically about these elections. As it stands, Mattias Corvinus will be elected unopposed and venetian influence in Italy/south France will increase, meaning France will probably loose Naples, Syracuse, Pisa, Cagliari, Sassari and Calvi, or most of these anyway. And yet I see french toons putting in billions for Matthias. Spanish also seem to have more of an interest for Frederick to win, although not so pronounced.

OK, thinking more of gameplay/ganador bonuses over the interests of the flag our toon bears is a game-style choice that I fully respect, since I also have my own. I just *wish* people were a bit more political about this, all I said.

By the way - supporting the eventual winner with 10 millions is enough to get all bonuses. No need to put in billions just for that. You need more than 100 millions and to be in Frankfurt cathedral itself to play around with combos and get some nice items out of them and/or stock up with cheap PAs/OSPs. And around 700 millions at most should be what you need for all the historical event rewards, up to the title/hat and chest (which won't be worth 700 mil at all, but people may like to complete those historical events, I know I do).

what Title you get for completing this event?

Egw

Minister of History. It's the merchant equivalent to Pioneer of History and Vanquisher of History, which are for adventure / battle historical events respectively.

Egw

Yes, and you'll get the hat together with the title, or another hat if you already have one :-).

Egw

It's like normal emperor election, except while paying to support the candidate of your choice you also end up with some rewards in the bank. The final reward should be a chest.

I see, thanks. Will try it tomorrow, because you need 11 support permits to support someone, while you can get only 10 each day.

The final World Clock event for OGP's period of hosting the game turned out to be this one. Due to the imminent server shutdown tomorrow at 10AM, not much progress can be made in it, though. I wonder what effect the server shut down will have on this event, actually.

Since the occurring and influence period dates will be on the same exact dates UWO will be offline for the move to papaya, I imagine it will likely be skipped over, and we'll have to wait for the next world clock event in November. Papaya could, however, accommodate the dates to start on the 19th, or have a do over on the 26th of October. But I doubt that, seeing as they will probably have a lot on their plate in dealing with UWO. We'll have to wait and see.

If anybody is going to put money in this in the few remaining hours, and given we won't enjoy the benefits anyway -> consider supporting Frederick. Why? Because it's the historical ending, meaning it'll help move the clock forward, meaning we won't go back to the early 15th century where we've been so many times. Just saying.

Good point. We may not know what'll happen with this event due to the transfer, but trying to back Freddie and thereby push the World Clock to trend forward would definitely be for the best, even if the player involvement for this is only a little.

It's back. Or is this the first time for Maris? Anyway, as the now retired Egw player told us, 10m to a candidate is all you need for the maximum amount of rewards... cheers.
