  • The Spanish Armada
The already poor relations between England and Spain further deteriorated due to privateer acts carried out by English ships on Spanish ships. Relations totally collapsed when the English Court chose to ignore Spanish claims. Unable to ignore the disgrace, Spain put together a large Armada that set sail for England.

Debuting for the first time on GAMA, this is a Historical Epic Sea Feud event, circa 16th Century, period 5 (full moon). The battles will be set this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's Spain and Portugal vs. England and the Netherlands, with French, Venice, and the Ottoman Empire free to be mercenaries for either side.

Targeted cities:

England:
Dublin
Plymouth
Edinburgh
Dover

France:
Calais

Fallen forts in a few of those English cities would make for interesting investment opportunities for the Spanish aggressors and their allies. Just an observation, of course. Most likely outcome at the moment: "Diplomacy Behind the Epic Battle" (increased influence for Venice in the North Sea, France in the West Mediterranean, and Ottomans in the East Mediterranean).

I wish they changed the notification..., because this is way too soon as usual. The times are neither fixed (3x 8-11 PM per round). Calias won't be targeted since France is mercenary, unless historical ESF shows an much different system.

I think Calais is added since, historically, it belonged to the English until 1558. Of course, the Spanish Armada attack and the start of the Anglo Spanish War wasnt until 1588, but hey, UWO's gotta UWO...

Well, Calais is on the targeted city list, so we'll find out when the first round begins, I suppose. Are there any English cities in particular which would be beneficial for people to focus their attack on over others?

As none of the target cities show "Fallen!" status, the point of where to invest may be moot. Then again, maybe it becomes possible for foreign players to invest in the targeted English/French cities, just because Spain technically won the ESF. I'll check later, though I doubt it.

Oh, right. Final outcome: "The Pride of the Spanish Armada."
Effect: Increased prestige for Spain, increased influence for Spain in the North Sea region, and tax reduction on trade goods for Portuguese players in the target cities on all trade goods types.
