- Snake of Yongzhou
The snake which was featured in the 'Tale of the Snakecatcher,' written by Liu Zongyuan, a poet during the Tang Dynasty. It is said that it causes plants to dry and contains deadly poison that will kill all those it bites.
There was apparently a period when it was used to make medicine effective for incurable diseases, as well as a form of taxation.
