Caped at 3/5 or 4/5, not because of dev, but because shipbuilder rank needed, on FS building and improving a shipbuilder can make a ship even 5 ranks over his ownn shipbuilder rank, but this ship at 3/5 to go 4/5 needs rank 25 shipbuilding skill....meaning a rank 20 SB is needed, and the rank needed gets higher after each improve on the ship...so unfortunatelly the new ships are capped because our shipbuilding skill is caped at 20 right now

CTC 5/5 has less total sails then LC 4/4. But it can have 1 more improve then LC, so you can get D sails, more ship parts in. So the top speed in general would be more or less the same or even better.
Also size of ship and the number of mast effects the acceleraton speed: LC with 5 masts, and bigger cargo apacity will take longer to get to top speed.
CTC can also as adjust cabin which is a nice skill too. Thumb up for CTC!

(Ignoring the trolls) The CTC, at 5/5, and max ship handling; mine is at 461 vert, 568 horizontal, 17 turn, and 16 wave. For a non-NC ship, I think that is pretty sweet.

My LC has 515 vert horizontal 590(admiting it is in teak 5xNC sails and 2x20vert) wave ress and turn speed is not nearly as good thu, i like the look of this ship but the 3 sails only is kinda braking it abit

Just looking large clipper vs cruising tea clipper, no sails added, the CTC gives 45 more horizontal sails with a default FS build. If you make them both out of teak the CTC has 6 more vert and 53 more horizontal. The large clipper has 2 more masts however so it will be able to have larger vert and horizontal values once you fully equip them. The CTC will have an inate 3 turn advantage (assuming you use -1 turn sails) and 1 WR, which we all understand equates to faster speeds on open ocean.

I really feel like i'm missing something here on this particular ship and the merchant version because the level 64 versions seem to be just as good if not even a little bit better.

top speed will more or less the same to be honest. But you will get more turns with CTC, which will create make CTC to have faster turns and less speed losses.

personally i think LC 4/4 is pretty good already. CTC and LC is just at the same class. You can skip CTC and wait for some lvl 7X ships if you have a LC 4/4 already.

tea clipper and BTC is abother argument. TeaC is 1 with smaller cargo and will be dramatically faster then BTC when they are both full cargo. If you have aide ship and prefer the speed for long run. Tea clipper is a better choice.

600 horizontal is possible, yes. I've seen one with that much. Mine is a bit more balanced for v and h as I use spankers, not sprits.

large clipper built with 3 dstorms vs cruising tea clipper built with 3 dstorms would be a very close race imo. The problem with the large clipper is the 4 improvements, you almost have to teak/reset it otherwise you're losing out on some wave resistance.

Idk, you have a few more sails on the large clipper, but the ctc has more wr so I don't know how that all evens out. I wil say this, if a cruising tea clipper is getting outran by a BTC then the tea clipper wasn't built right.

CCC one of fastest ships in game
some people say CCC some MLS some FLC
but in realty thay all are aprox same
(did lots of piracy in FLC +40 crew 120 total)
and did attack all of thos 3 ships in some winds thay are same speed in diferent wind other beter

but price thay all 3 go for is 6-9 bill form my info in servile

Better acceleration than a BTC, but everything I've been able to find says turn and WR don't actually matter for top speed. Using the formulas with wind of .625V+.825H crosswind .625(V+H) and vs wind .45V+.25H and assuming 22/25 sails and +11v equipment...

You haven't read enough, turn doesn't matter for top speed, but WR certainly does. Huge difference, I didn't even realize it was up for debate.

WR affects the bonus speed when crossing the different sea zones, and that % bonus is related to a max of the zone and the cargo the ship is transporting. WR gives less penalty from cargo, so the higer the WR, more bonus speed. 10% at coastal waters and 20-30% at deep sea is realy good

Sophia, top speed is affected by the ship capacity too, a Cruise Clipper is faster than BTC in most cases. While turn dont affect max speed, higher turn gives less speed reduction when turning... but most of the time these ships sail straight and mostly with EA on

Material cost: Gunport and Sail 1.5m each, Iron paneling and the hull unknown
Sold to a shipyard master for 38mil.

Earning before th Iron paneling and the hull is 26m, taking 34min.
Kinda Alchemy, not sure it worth doing though.
