actually there's fire which can only extinguished by skill (blue fire from ship skills) just like there's great disorder which can only being neutralized with leadership skill (calming flag won't work)

but not so many ppl use it in pvp so, waste a skill slot imho

wasted skill slot ? i got pretty much all the maritime skills and i have spare skill slots. im a maritimer what amazing skill should i replace fire fighting with for use in pvp or grinding??

go on , utilize your impressive wisdom, bestow upon me some amazing skill from adventure or trade, thats much more useful than fire fighting in pvp or any maritime activity...

Just a noob question, how do u catch a blue fire? Is it caused by Set Fire?

i know that the armor deteriorating bullet doesn't cause blue fire, even though the trajectory shows blue flame.

There's a link between preventing fire and this skill. At least, I get skill prof for it when a fire breaks out on my ship. And I think in battle fires extinguish faster on their own. But I'm not sure.

Higher ranks of firefighting can prevent fires at sea, also it can not be used in ship melee, but it has a chance of 'procing' automatically to stop a fire. You'll just see 'fire has went out' or something similar. It can happen as soon as you catch the fire, much like when aides cure a ship status.

^, i got this skill just to save $$ from sandbags and realized i got more than i asked for. Fire often put themself out as soon as my ship is lit, againest those flaming shot npc this is sexy.

some fires (great fires) cannot be put out with pails or aides, you must have r10 fire fighting to deal with them. That is why I picked it up.
