Plague mostly happens because: Dirty deck never got cleaned. Turned into rat infestation. Rats never got killed. Turned into Plague. Clean your deck and kill rats, avoid 90% of all plague outbreaks. Scurvy doesn't happen often enough, either. Set aide to surgeon to avoid most if not all crew loss. Don't even need items 1/2 the time. Skill doesn't rank up, either. I agree, waste of a slot.

and ofcourse 2 dumb traders and or adventurer's come in with a stupid opinion.

Its a must have skill if you are a maritimer, You run out of food in 8 days 10 tops with frugality, so unless you live in the greenzone, youll be getting scurvy and plaque alot when those run out, and sailing without food and water is how you rank survival.

Dont be narrowminded.

You need this when leveling up survival you do not need this after you achieved high level :)

If you have an aide you don't need it at all, your aide will keep your crew alive.

you DO know that aides DO NOT activate aide job skills (kill rats/prevent fires/cure plague, scurvy/etc etc etc) if you run out of EITHER food OR water. aka. you need to HAVE both food and water for your aides to proc their skills

As george mentioned, maritimers run out of food and water very fast very often, so yes, this skill is useful

this skills is usefull for maritimer .if you dont have any food/water and your aides cant cure plague and your crew will die ^^

As an alternative, there is the Asclepius' Medicated Bath item which can cure all crew-related status ailments, including scurvy, plague, malnutrition, and even sirens. It's a fairly common drop from the Endless Dungeons of the Labyrinth and, at times when Atlantis is present on the server, the Temple of Poseidon.
