A lot of Daggers have Throwing bonus and Swordplay bonus. Does Swordplay give a damage bonus to Thrown weapons like Daggers?

Sonia

Dont think so, but swordplay bonus helps you in ship melee battle even if you are equiped with a dagger

Land battles my friend, land battles. High level enemy with good hp/armor, but not so high that you are in danger of being killed. Low to mid level damage weapon so you don't kill them too soon. Hack away and keep yourself healed.

If you're intent on modding down the xp rate so you get more time to grind skills, use a trade job for this. If you can handle mobs 3-5 levels above your maritime level, you'll be set. If those take too long to kill, grind on something slightly easier. Look for any items that push your atk rating, and of course any +sp/sm items.

nossir, the last thing you want to do is KILL the mob.
You just want to attack it, no skills, no attack bonuses, no sp bonuses. and for goodness sake no techs. swordplay goes up with every swipe of the weapon, not every kill. The faster the npc dies, the less you get out of it.

It really depends on whether you ONLY want to grind SP, or if you also want to work on your tech levels. If you find a good spot with 3-4 mobs spawning close together, you can efficiently grind without a break, and you'll also collect a lot of swmp and other stuff, which helps offset the dura costs.
I can't think of a reason that one would try to avoid working on their tech levels. Sitting there hacking at a mob without killing it seems silly and counterproductive to me, especially when you can turn a (smallish) profit by grinding normally.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but the question asked was the _fastest_ way to grind swordplay. I just answered the question as asked.

best way to lvl swordplay fast wile lvling tech is to find a spot with 2 or 3 mid to high lvl mobs and beet them silly with a broom the weapon will not break and atk power is low enouf to let them heal so you can get a x8 or better tech combo

Sonia
04-24-2013
Do this in boardeux middle, the boss there heals like 3-5 times enough to make about 50-60 skill points (1 point each attack) in one run (flrs 3-5 abt 10-15mins). Good thing also is you dont need ESBT or go sailing very far. You can sell the ESBT at the same time gain PO3s and PO4s. What was said above is true, use a very low lvl attack weapon. You also dont need to buy healing meds as boardeux NPCs drops them from time to time. This is where I level up my SP and SM to r16 and r15, before EA update - FSD arrived. :)

What is the best way for someone levels 10, 12, 10 to rank this. I want as high swordplay level as I can get at the lowest level possible. I don’t care a bought exp or fame or tech.I just want to crank this skill

DonPiano
05-23-2013
@Liza, you can try syracuse's church upper floor, or Athens gates (I can't remember the names but it's something like athens northwest and southwest). Inside the dungeond you will find very low level npc (around 5-10), the athens' inland you will find npcs around 8-15;I strongly suggest to carry some medications or ointments along with other 2 land batle items, such as boomerangs or numbness inducers, you can buy plenty of those and several other items in the Colisseum located in Naples.
Every hit of your sword, axe or spear is 1 proficiency point, that means if you need 100 points to rank up this skill, you need to succesfuly land 100 hits. Techs doesn't count as proficiency points.

Meng Meng

You do not want to use attack items like boomerangs, although you could use items that paralyze or blind. Doing damage with items is counter productive.
Also, you want to use a very low damage weapon, on a mob that takes a long time to kill that way, but won't do too much damage to you in the process. That way you can keep hacking away at it for skill prof, and not waste time going to other mobs, waiting for battle to start again, etc. With enough defense, there's no reason you can't beat on a mob for a LONG time, as long as your damage is low enough that they keep healing.
Don't bother with mobs below your level. Go for the strongest mob that can't hurt you too much (this is where good armour comes in). The increased xp that higher level mobs give is mitigated by not killing them nearly as often.

can someone advise me on how do i get land battle tech? is it there a place where i can grind swordplay n gain land battle tech as well? thanks in advance

Chester
05-23-2013
In a nutshell, what you want to do is go with a fleet of people who all want to grind techs. You decide which colour of tech you'll grind, and disable all other colours, traps, whatever. You circle a strong mob, use very weak weapons, and let your techs build up. Then, you do a huge chain, which at best means each person gets a chain of like, 12 to 14. That gives upwards of 100 points to that colour of tech, so 5 of those means a tech level.

Dongwoo
05-23-2013
to start SP and battle techs i recomend just battle in syracuse dungeon, coliseum, landing spots 1st, you will gain the r1 battle techs very easily, but just be patient, Chester's guide is more for players who already have battle techs and would like to gring the finesse which will help gain higher rank techs.

Sonia
05-23-2013
thanks alot chester n dongwoo. can i jus ask one more question. how does forte point come in in grinding land battle tech

Igor
05-23-2013
forte increases attack with the particluar weapon youre using

Meng Meng
05-23-2013
thank you igor! jus wanna comfirm that forte point doesnt affect getting tech

Sophia
05-23-2013
for me personally ive noticed i start getting the r1 techs quickly once i have 50-100 forte, not sure if there is an ammount of forte needed before you can start acquiring techs, but i doubt there is. just keep battling, youll soon have that 1st battle tech. for higher rank techs there are pre-requisites so make sure you have swordplay skill, or sniping or throwing depending on what weapon youre using and what techs you want.
for example r2 power bow tech needs r5 sniping as well 5 power finesse gained, and you gain power finesse by using power techs

Francine
05-23-2013
oh just to add, Chester's post above is where you quickly gain finesse, using the same type of tech such as power or quick or feint in fleets will gain you higher finesse quickly. usually players heard to the coliseum to train finesse with other players. and its not wasted time, there are some great valuable items you can acquire from the coliseum chests bought with roman coins

where can I rank this at rank 4? Syracuse doesn't give proficiency anymore and in upper Giza only the last NPC (level 20) gives prof but somehow I feel he is too strong for me (~ *o*)~

Hans
09-02-2013
try the landing zone east and a little north of athens, west turkey i think it's called. almost all the npc's are level 17 and if the boss in giza is giving you too much trouble this sounds like your ideal npc level range.

Carla

Thank you, do I need to gear up much or just a long sword and healing items is fine? is it good maritime exp too or sea battle is better?

Jafar
09-02-2013
You wanna do sea battle if you wanna rank your cannon skills (acc, gunnery, bal, etc) or melee skils (assault, gunfire, guard, etc) but if you want to rank your sp and sm including techs then its better to do land battle. Of course, the fastest way to lvlup and gain fame for maritime is doing sea battle.

Dongwoo
09-02-2013
If you are just looking at the xp equation then land battles are faster early on. however, this is a sailing game so eventually it's better xp to go out to sea. Now the question is how serious do you want to be about sea battles? every level of maritime you get on land means your sea battle skills are lagging further and further behind.
If however you are a trader and you just need maritime levels to get into ships or you're a bit more hardcore and you want more skill slots and court ranks, then a very viable alternative is to do land battles to level 52, get yourself in a vaisseau, and go deck battle. It's risky because deck battling can take a few rounds to take, but it gets you a load of maritime xp in a hurry, and it works for arms skill prof.

How to rank up techs?
Gold05-17-2015
Is there a way to calculate min level of npc to gain skill proficiency for this or is it just find any and hack at him?
H.-Gazi06-12-2015
***Extra Information***
This skill raises the attack power in melee battle by +3 per rank and for land battle +2~+3 per rank for close-ranged weapons. These weapons are: Sword, Ax, Club/Staff and Spear.
It can be grinded during melee battle, but doing land battle with close-ranged weapons is way faster. You can proficiency per hit you cause with you weapon and it is currently unknown for me if the levels of NPC has influence on it. It is not hard to max this.
This skill is also very essential for obtaining R2+ battle-techs (including the R1 Trick) and +boosters may work when trying.
Since the Gran Atlas it is possible to refine this skill and I highly recommend it to do this. It will give the following effects:
1) Reset to rank 1 in exchange for permanent +2 boost.
2) Required proficiency is reduced by 20%.
3) Secundaire effect: Reduces the vigour consume for using melee skills by 10%.
Hope this makes clears for the most of you. :-)

Huseyin-Gazi
