Are there any other non-body gears available?

Throwing in my experience on grinding this skill:
-Choose a job that favors rowing: Brigand is the cheapest.
-Grind afk using tow permits to autonav from Cairo to Nantes
-use light galley(LG): Slowest row ship from my experience. (I also modded my LG with out-of-range cargo for all -20 penalties during each mod to really slow it down)
-remove all sail ship parts, and get ships sails damaged/ripped.
-equip iron plates -11 H sails & v sails
-equip figurehead Quetzalcoatl for +7 fatigue relief and +7 crises protection (Sculpting- Caribbean divine beast: Jamaica invest - 1.2m)
-remove all oxford ship speed skills if active
-keep at least 1m on you (i keep 5m which is plenty). Dont worry about npc attacks. They don't attack in safe waters using autonav, but i use caution anyway for the grind along with survey so i know how close i am to destination.
-keep about 50 timber on you for repairs from storms etc. Never had my ship sink from storms with r10 repair
-load the rest of your cargo with food & water evenly.
-keep maximum amount of vigor food (400+)
-set timer according to how much fatigue builds so that you can pop vigor food when fatigue is almost maxed or vigor is low. Fatigue will accumulate faster the longer you are out to sea so adjust timer accordingly.
Boosts:
-DONT USE GEAR!!! Its easy to forget to check its dura when afk sailing (havent tested this with Sword of the Sea People +2 row yet, though i dont think weapons lose dura when sailing)
-Use aide with +1 row skill. I like Io, but choose one for your needs.
-Optional boosts:
I prefer to use skill notes and either a 7 day or 30 day 50% proficiency rate acquisition. (you can also use Battle skills Instruction: +3 for all maritime skills for 24 hours but this is a really long grind, more than a month unless you don't need sleep, and that can get expensive.)
Once you refine you get permanent +2 row as well. So get back out there and max rowing again! lol

Small note: Weapons, like any other piece of equipment, can lose durability while at sea -- unless they have an Item Effect attached to them. (EX Effect equipment will not count as Item Effect and still lose durability, too.) Currently I know of no Rowing + equipment with Item Effects.

Thanks for confirming Guilder!
I also forgot to mention to remove all crew from both your ship and your aides ship. They eat too much :)

I don't know where to ask this so I will write in this section: does anyone know a ship with oars that is good for both trading and fighting, for being safe if they attacking you but also not too much slow for long voyages?
Gudebuddha05-16-2023
Depends who exactly "they" are, but in short all "Galleass" are basicly a Hybrid between Trade and Battle.
Like
Venetian Galleass or
Ottoman Galleass, there are some more and also chash variants ofc, so the decision would depend on your levels and your budget.
Marfisa05-17-2023
I'm 38,55,34 with a budget around 70-80 m
Gudebuddha05-17-2023
I see, to be frank, you lacking both battle levels and budget for that plan to work.
For now i would recommand sticking to something like a
Trading Clipper for trading. Using
Caution and avoiding pirates. In case you get attaacked use
Tribute Goods for Brigands to get away prom NPC pirates and
Fine Tribute Goods (Large Ships) to get away from player pirates.
If you have some more questions chat me up ingame. My IGN is also "Gudebuddha".

do you get rowing prof if you are following someone in a fleet?
Guilder12-24-2023
That works for some skills (Sail Handling, Steering, Pet Training, etc.) but it does not work for Rowing. You gain 0 prof as long as you are following someone in fleet.

I just noticed you can grind this skill by sailing with minimum speed (sails barely opan) with same efficiency.
This way, if you let your ship sailing around E. mediterranean sea and go to sleep, it is less likely to be on far seas when you wake up!
(I do this when i run out tow permits)

It's also possible to do the following:
1. Take the Ganador transport to Command Center
2. Start a mission with Maymay the beginner newbie Ganador
3. Set sail, hit rowing, and come back in 30 minutes when the mission fails to restart the process.
This is useful as you can use any rowboat for this, since you'll never arrive at a location, the NPC ships are too weak to cause any real damage to medium/high level ships, food/water are free in Ganador docks, and all but a few disasters cannot occur at sea in Ganador missions.
The only drawback is that you need to return every 30 minutes to start the mission again, but if you're not going to be afk for hours at a time or are expecting to play with friends soon, this is a nice, relaxing way to casual row grind.
