I recommend this skill. you can learn a bodylanguage skill. and you can erase language skills. you can learn more other skills

Just as a reminder to the noobies out there, this skill does NOT work when trying to read books at the Archives. If you are an adventurer, you'll need the actual language skills or get an aide(s) that have them. Translation notes also work for reading in the Archives but there are currently no translation notes available for Chinese and Japanese languages and the only aides that have those languages (as of right now) are Astro aides.

You should carry plenty of vigor food to help keep from running out while using this skill, too! Though even if you did hit zero vigor, and had nobody around willing to help, I think all the player languages are spoken over at the Ganador camp, so you could always hop on the Special Transport Ship and refill at the bar there, in an emergency!

This skill will be adjusted in a fairly distant future "Atlantis - Atlantic Ocean" update (due out October 2015 in Japan; unknown date for GAMA). If I'm reading it correctly, then...
"Body Language will become favored by Adventure/Merchant/Maritime Mentor job classes. Its cost to use will apparently be reduced to 5 vigour per use."
That should make it a lot easier to get Body Language to R15 for skill refinement, itself a future option that gives the following bonus: "After a successful invocation in the city, it will not fail to leave the town".
So... use it once in town, and it'll succeed every time afterward until you leave that same town, I guess? Time will tell.

Right. New "Weapon" that gives +1 to Body Language and Ecological Research has been released in the Power and Speed Mystery Bottle (7/21).

The usual disclaimers apply: Hand wash only. Dry in direct sunlight. Do not feed after midnight.

The beginner jobs of Adventure Learner, Trade Learner, and Military Learner have BL as a favoured skill now. I'm assuming it's to help new players that get stuck in a port with no language(s) belonging to that area, and have no money, vigour, etc.

If you have no vigour, then even body language will not help you :D
Guilder08-05-2016
Agreed. ThatOneGuy's correct, though: Ganador has a barkeep that speaks all European player languages, so if you run out of vigor in a strange land, just hop aboard the special transport to Ganador Land and refuel there.

Another thing I want to add about this skill is that the vigour consume has been relaxed from 20 to 5 per use, so new players won't have much vigour issue with that. :-)

A trick for grinding this that I've used: go to a tavern or rest house where a Well-Dressed Gentleman NPC is (usually a "capital" port like Seville, Stockholm, Santo Domingo, etc.). You can click on "Talk to" with the WDG repeatedly with Body Language; there's no menu prompt to close/exit, meaning you can just keep on clicking "Talk to" until you're low on vigour... at which point, you can just turn around and refill at the nearby Barkeep.
There are probably other ways, probably even better ones, but that trick's served me well over the years. Cheers, and good skill grinding to you, however you go about it.

well, if you have this skill
Folklorist's Wisdom 1 you won't need to refill at Barkeep (haven't tried myself yet)
Guilder11-17-2022
Thanks for the advice -- that said, FW1 skill only works if you stay in Folklorist job. Sadly, my old tip no longer works as the Well-Dressed Gentleman now spams you with a short 'cutscene' style dialogue. Too bad.

I am pretty sure I met some other NPCs in the world who act the same as Well-Dressed Gentleman. Just need to find them again :)
Govinda11-17-2022
ok, so there are plenty of NPCs in almost in every town: Farmers, Young Boys, Artists, Engineers etc... who act the same as Well-Dressed Gentleman :)
so, good luck clicking :)))
