Is the skill a must have or can all ships be raised with salvage rope ?

Francine

I think every ship can be raised by ropes.. problem is.. it's slower and more prone to breakage with Ropes.. So if you love salvaging.. salvage skill is a must

yeah...ropes can be raise all ship. some times it will be slower so what you need is do it with full fleet and use ship that have many sailor. it's will help alot in salvage :D

some ships just cant be raised with ropes. rope breaks after a certain ammount of tries, as well as the skill, but as you level up the skill, youre more likely to get the ship before it breaks.

bottom line, if youre thinking of getting a few wrecks for fun, go with ropes. for serious stuff, you need the skill.

Even the experience as well as the amount of sailors helps alot. If you hire noob sailors your chances of success goes down by alot.

collection of tips..

1. Many sailor helps in 1 boat
2. experience sailor help
3. Fleet help(during searching..let ur fleet roam around and during raising ask ur fleet to use salvage skill/rope)
4. aide in lookout help you locate shipwreck faster
5. higher salvage will make ur raising a bit faster
6. be sure to carry timber as salvage will eat ur dura ship during raising wreck..

Don't use the ropes, used 70 before I gave up, couldn't even find the wreck. Rope gave no direction unlike the salvage skill does so will wait to get the skills when I have the room.

You really need lots of lumber and repair skill since it eats up a lot of dura.

I have to agree, put on the skill! ^^

Ropes give you level 1 skill. I assume you are using the salvage rope, not the haul rope. I'm not aware that salvage gives direction unless you're in a fleet. But that's based, on the rope, no clue if higher ranks will do it.

bigger crew helps with this skill too

Does this skill gain prof by the number of times you raise a shipwreck or the percentage each time you raise it?

Nicola

it gets skill points by being used so the longer it takes to rise a wreck the more skill points. I have heard it sayed you can just keep dropping a wreck and raising it again to rank this but I never tried it

You *cannot* drop and raise the ship to gain proficiency. You do not get any proficiency from re-raising the ship (tested and confirmed by me), and I heard (unconfirmed) that the loot is worse if you let it sink.

if u drop the wreck before u "FIRST" success salvaging (let say at 90%), doing salvage again will give u skill prof

if u drop the wreck after u already salvaged it, u wont get any exp from potential re-salvage

Salvager Bicorne (head equipment) has Salvage+1, Evasion+1, Whining and Dining+2.
Got it from the shipwreck (the Whydah discovery) near North America East coast.

looks like for serious salvaging i will need the skills , question is do i need the +1 from aide ? is the +1 makes big difference in high lvl ? as the only aide that have both skills (salvage and haul) are aisha and her other skills are not that good for me

Edgedemon

the +1 does help with raising high difficulty Shipwrecks, but consider that worse case scenario you would just have to try to raise it again, this can still be important with Arctic Shipwrecks, Haul however can be circumvented altogether, if you get a ship with Haul Assist skill (Cruise Galleon / Endeavor / San Gabriel or inherited ) you do not need to even have the Haul skill to salvage your haul would never be interrupted.

even if you do choose to have haul skill you definitely can do without the +1 haul on aide

i see so i don't need aide for this then , thx

If you want to raise the ship fast, pick up a ship with > 80 people, like a caravel or galley.

If you want to squeeze the sink ships, the raising has to be slow. Meaning around 50 people , durability at least 400, and repair skill.

You need certain amount of people because raising the ship will make people will fall from your ship.

Raising the ship fast i did get around 60 proficiency points, raising it slow i get around 140.

Well, technically the hat was mentioned by Donce. Now we have a link to it as well. Cheers.
