I think it just lets you gain ranks with the girls easier. Which means you can turn in higher lvl quests easier.

I think the barmaids actually give you clothes and other rare things if you have a good relationship with them. This is based on some info from foreign website, so the translation is hard to understand.

This skill lets you flirt with the staff and there are male tenders as well. You can get some nice items as well. Your name is also listed to other players more often when they drink. There is also suppose to be a way to check affection levels. There is also a hidden effect of improved ability to drink and eat. In general this is a skill for completion and can be handled by going to the item shop and buying the cheapest shoes and giving them as a gift. I go through up to 10 of these and most quests will be accepted.

No, you can't use boosters to get skills or Oxford theses. Base rank only matters for these. You *can* use boosters to get quests though, including job quests.

This skill aparantly is needed to unlock a special event with NPC tavern maids.

Only my char who is r6 persuation can give them gifts and, after a while, select the "bed" icon that pops up.

The maid will say something like "enter, let's talk inside", and after the screen fades out "It was good, thanks for coming, come again" and you'll have your vigour refilled for free.

Each maid have a specific speech.

My question is:

Someone knows if it can be unlocked with the major towns maids?
Because i manage to unlock only with the maids from NA, East Med and such... The maids at London, Seville and Lisbon never invite me.

As I understand it, this skill has two purposes:

1. Allows you a free vigor recharge with barmaids/barmen (their unique dialogues are recorded under Event History->Waitresses from the front page if you're curious to read them all).

I would say this is largely useless since a course meal has the same effect and is easy to trigger if you know the mechanics (cheap non-alcoholic drink, x3 of the same food item, non-alcho drink to finish works in most ports; you won't usually get course meal bonuses that way but you will max vigor) and if you have Quarters which allow you to do the course meal trick for free in your own nation capital.

2. As Maria from 12-08-2013 in these comments stated, your character name will be mentioned more often to other players. If you like bragging rights, maybe it's useful to you?

No other benefits seem to exist beyond those. Now in order to trigger the skill, you must donate quality item gifts (equipment only, no consumables) on a regular basis, and each barmaid or barman has skills that they 'respect' (bonus points?). Sharing a drink with them may reveal this in passing, or you can check this JP wiki section with a breakdown of skills by barmaid/barman:

The title Flower Connoisseur obtained by receiving a gift from each of the major capital city barmaids (registered in Memorial Album) seems to make it easier to improve relations using this skill and is easy to unlock (drink, 3 admiral coats from Pisa item shop, drink again, pocket MA gift toward title and move on).

Although to be frank, very little research has ever been done in this field, so I am only speaking from personal experience (which is limited) and JP wikis (translated somewhat haphazardly at times). I am told by one infinitely wiser than myself that "The main purpose is that you can report map discoveries to barmaid." In the past, it seems some of the best maps went to Lima outskirts and as there were no nobles to report them to, you couldn't grind them efficiently. Cool.

That's true! Only my alt with this skill can report discoveries to bar maids.

But the "Rest with the bar maid" perk can be usefull as well... For crafting grind, for example.

This rest isn't limited like course meal (i know, you can ever use stomach med and sober to do another course meal, but it's faster and no need for consumable items) and it's free. So, if you're grinding a craft skill, can be a bit usefull. Of course, vigour is not a major issue, since the bonanza boxes, so... i don't think worth spending a skill slot on it.

I'll keep this skill with my adventure alt, tho. Just because i want all adv skill on him :)

For me personaly it is like Wining and Dining or Linguistic, as in: Has its niche usecases, but not enough to realy justify the skill slot, i still have (and rarely even use) all 3 for flavor reasons and because with 3 toons i do have the slots to do that.

If someone only plays with 1 or 2 toons, i would say: Dont bother. :)
