this quest is so hard to get lately!
AliBayan10-22-2012
Just tried to pull the quest, but apparently with no required trade fame, no will do. Geez, where am I to get the 50K trade fame as an adventurer, and when... Barely crossed 20K, and thought it's all I'll ever need ;/
Anyway, at least got me that dang bastard sword from someone at Seville. 5M, but worth it, especially that attacking Spanish fleets (to get the book) is not among my plans!

if your lvl 54 trade then how did you get so far without knowing how to earn fame... did someone else grind your lvls for you by any chance!

Laurencio
10-22-2012
and there was a post about 4 months ago still on this page stating required fame did you miss that too
AliBayan10-22-2012
Level 54? Oh geez, there you got me - dizzy old me didn't notice that one! Ouch, my dementia hurts.
However, believe it or not, 20K fame is all I got with current lvl38 trade. Maximizing fame wasn't my aim at any point of the game, I just never needed it so far to be more than I had.
Yeah, maybe I actually should pay attention to that, while getting those levels.
Laurencio - in fact I didn't miss the 30K written here - but on the quest's page there is a 50K outlined, and by my pessimistic nature I kept onto that scenario.
Pirotess10-22-2012
So 30k fame as trader is confirmed, thanks AliBayan :)
And... yes Carla, it's possible, I have almost 15k fame and lvl 43 as trader. It happens if you focus on casting skills rather than selling spices and stones.
AliBayan10-22-2012
Oh, did I confirm it aside from my awareness? Wheee, must be a superpower I need to explore now and call Marvel once I do! :)
If the 30K version is true though, it'd mean I could keep on totally ignoring the fame thing :)
Pirotess10-22-2012
Lol, I'm sorry AliBayan, I don't think you have superpowers. More probably I have blindness...
AliBayan10-22-2012
As you can see (?!), it's perfectly among my superpowers too :)

its 2x fame now goto bazaars in seville buy spices n sell at market keeper
AliBayan10-22-2012
Carla - knowing how to do something doesn't have to mean doing it. I know some tips on grinding the trade fame, and I bet Pirotess knows no less about it. I just personally didn't see any reason good enoug to be doing that.
Bazaar spices, so unsporty!

Make sure you buy a Bastard Sword for this! Why is it call a Bastard Sword anyway, made by a Bastard?
AliBayan10-22-2012
Hopefully at least the more or less glorious one!

It's called a bastard sword because it's neither a one-handed sword, nor a two-handed sword. It's what some call a "hand and a half" sword, due to the large size of it, and the fact that it was a bit unweildy with one hand, but doesn't have a handle quite long enough for two hands.

Got this job last night. As long as you have Greek language and all the needed requirements I got this quest no problems. I just forked out the million or so for the sword.
AliBayan01-31-2013
Got it, too! A "dream job" at the very last :)
FYI, I went on with no Greek, and 2 QMPs were enough to pull it.

bro not that great

Miyo

Not that great >.< This is by far the best overall production grinding job. All 4 gathering skills, plus 4 production skills, couldn't ask for better (except maybe for added cooking).
AliBayan01-31-2013
Well, many consider it not a great job, mainly due to a high switching cost, which is fine to me (I'll mostly use it for Nanban, which pays back well), but I do understand the concern.
Also, while I prefer to procure / collect all stuff I can, many prefer to buy, which makes this job far less useful for them.
It's probably a matter of the gaming ways - we all have different ones, and we all are correct :)
For me personally though, it is a great job, and it goes together well with the Chef one.

Its really good if you already have fairly high trade skills already R5-R7 and even still I prefer to level my trade skills while buying stuff to craft I recommend having artisan/blacksmith/Tailor and just swap in between jobs
wollef05-27-2017
Great job. Was dreamming about to get it. The real problem is to find the "bastard sword" (only can be made with the recipe "sword training-secrets"). Now is less painfull, cuz i heard there is a quest related to Hobart that gives you that damn sword.
I bought mine at chat bazar for 10mD.
Now i dont need to swap Jobs more often, and is a perfect job for the industrial era.
