Log in six days from December 18th through January 3rd for twenty minutes or so, and you'll receive one for free as a login bonus. You must fully log out of the game and the game launcher for each day to count, however.

Remember that there are two types of regular Christmas Tree: furniture and decoration! The furniture occupies the spot for the "Consumables" furniture, if I recall correctly, giving you just +1 instead of +4. So be careful which type you acquire! Jolly Xmas!

That is very true. I can report that the login reward Christmas Tree is of the displayable ornament variety, and can therefore be added or removed to your Quarters without any risk of removing Consumables furniture.
