"Special Search" means this: you use the Search skill in Tenochtitlan, and pan the camera around. If you're in the right spot, an "Observe" styled column of light will appear. Stand roughly in the center of it, then use Search again. I believe the item you get is random; there's also Golden Bookends, Golden Falda (female-only dress), and possibly another few items. It may be like Calicut's War God amulet and require a few hours to reset before you can find something else, too; not sure, since I've never tested it extensively.

Adding to my original post:

This item is one of six randomly awarded items found in Tenochtitlan (more information can be found by clicking the city's link). When an item has been found by a player, several real life hours (I believe three, but it could be less) pass before another item can be found.

Also, the Golden Clothes Trunk is Stored Equipment +1. Admittedly, not the best extra Equipment furniture item in the game, but I really like how it looks.
