Gunports actually ADDS cargo to the ship. Total cargo is crew + gunports + free cargo. Cosidering that total cargo has influence on speed of the ship, specially in battle, adding a lot of gunports can be a bad idea, the ideal number is minimun guns by default + the added to reach the max capacity (80 broadside + bow/stern guns, if you ever use both)

I picked up 3 from company shops in London a few days ago for 7.5mil each. Saw 1 in Seville the same day on a bazaar for 8mil.

If you wanna buy cheap stuffs and items, go to London. Best port with reasonable prices unlike Seville full of multiple alts, and greedy resellers. THAT'S A FACT.

No longer cheap. Used to have what, HudsonBay something that sells reasonable price FS parts from CS, now, it's hella pricy, nothing less than 7.5m and some parts obviously even more than that. FS parts in general inflated way too much in the past few weeks. I started making my own and for friends instead of paying for the convenience.

I'm not so sure increasing cannon capacity has any effect on ship speed. Just as I don't believe any mod that decreases cargo will improve it. The idea of it is you change how things are organized on the boat, but you aren't changing the actual dimensions of the boat.

Refitting the boat to accept maximum number of crew and cannons does end up decreasing your cargo, but that wouldn't speed the boat up any because overall hold size remains the same (crew+cannons+cargo).

Mate mods that reduce cargo actually does so by reducing crew+cannon+cargo so like -20% cargo is not really just reducing cargo but reducing total hold down to 80% of original try and see for yourself if u dun believe.

It's a matter of debate. Some say it does, others say that since FS parts don't actually add to hull (check the numbers on the second page of a build, min-max hull size doesn't change even with FS parts) it doesn't affect speed.

The only people who would know for sure won't say, so the debate rages on.

this is a FS(free-style) part, meaning you have to add a gunport when building FS ships from hull, sail, gunport, or you use this when improving with special ship improvement permits. when you improve make sure add a sail, gunport if you need/want it, and 2 armaments such as traverse rope, improved ropes, etc
