To get map 3 times in 1 reading.
        1. Appraisal must be below R4
        2. When you acquire map . stop reading and hand to friend.
        3. continue reading until acquire map again and repeat step 2.

I tried dropping map and searching later. I would acquire map and drop, get another, drop... Seems like they took this option out for this map. I could find everything else I dropped except for this map. It was worth a try though...

I noticed that it becomes very difficult for me to spawn this map once I reached r8 for appraisal. Sometimes I don't even have a single of this map at all for a lot of resets. Is there a rank limit to this map and an amount limit pertaining to how many of this map a person can find and pass to a friend ?

My appraisal rank got to r4 so i started to get very few maps. Dropped appraisal and learned it again to reset the rank, then i wasnt getting any map at all. when my appraisal got to r2 i started getting them again, so i think there is a r2 appraisal requirement to get this map in the archives

@Steward and others : when dropping an item, there is a "cooling time" before anyone else can find it. Additionally, not all objects can be searched back, I am pretty sure maps aren't since otherwise scholars would be littered with them.

Some of my friends suspect that you cannot search the objects that you have dropped yourself, either, but we have no confirmation of this.

Actually, I have found many discarded scholar maps, usually in front of scholars inside of the archives (though sometimes elsewhere, like in front of banks, too). I even have one kicking around in my captain's bag at the moment, waiting to be used.

Additionally, you -can- rediscover objects you've dropped, at least in cities -- three times, I've found equipment I've discarded, and the game says something along the lines of, 'you have found the [object] dropped previously', or something like that. Not saying it works like that universally, mind... just mentioning what I've confirmed in my own time so far.

What happens after r4 app... You can't get this anymore?

You only stop getting treasure maps if you already have the map in question (stored in your captain's bag/bank/quarters or Astro storage), or if you've enabled Oxford skill Hide Treasure Maps.

Otherwise, it's a random percentage and you'll always have a chance to get that map as long as you meet the listed requirements. It's more likely that Sonia's problem had to do with having a higher skill rank; the higher your discovery skill rank, the more discovery/treasure maps you're eligible to get, and the less chance other ones might show up as a result. Some treasure maps also have a low chance of showing up to begin with, so that'd be an extra problematic factor to deal with.

Is it just my luck or does this seem to drop harder nowadays?

Your Appraisal skill must be low as r1 to r5, higher skill rank harder the drop of low rank maps.
