To add further: I obtained one just from sailing, no fishing skill active. I wasn't paying attention to the text but somehow my sailors captured a great white that was following us, as they often do. One aide was on storekeeper the other was on paymaster.

In order to grind the Boston Academic Association thesis "Fishing 1" and "Fishing 2", the best place is immediately outside Cape Town, as you can fish both Mako Shark and Great White Shark in large quantities.
It's also reasonable good place to grind Storage, as Mako Shark can be used on a R14 Storage recipe. You can use "Miser's chains" to add temporary +5 Storage, allowing you to do the R14 recipe right at R9.

Sardine: 2433 (37.7%)
Mako Shark: 1305 (20.2%)
Great White Shark: 2712 (42%)

Good tip, thanks! I like Portobelo for that thesis as well; you get mako, great white, one other fish which was good (bonito? tuna? argh, I can't remember!) and it's not far from Boston. Both towns seem good either way. :)

after man-eating sharks disappeared near Las Palmas one of these ended up in my cargo hold.
