But you can only buy a few of these at a time unless you have a high rank in Arms. There's also no recipes to make these either.

used to take this as nanban goods...but...it took way TOO MUCH po3...and then...there are another alternative....won't mention which item though for Arms..

I saw this listed on the Florentine page beside Tyrian purple and Turkish carpet, both of which I have found to be excellent for handicrafts and sewing contribution points, respectively. Does that mean Damascus swords are the best option for casting points?

These give around 14-17 casting contribution points. Can't say for sure if they're the best possible option, but Cannon give around 12-13 points. Of course, it's a lot easier to load up on cannons than it is Damascus Swords, too. (Thanks to my casting buddy for the helping with comparison.)
