I feel stupid saying information like this, but ANY landing spot that's brown and covered with mysterious brown grainy small SAND-LIKE particles would yield you sand. Searching gives you sand, so does procurement, not to mention collection. Doesn't have to be in any landing points. If all africa's landing points is brown then all landing points in africa would yield you sand.

Conclusion: Brown landing points give you sand. Just don't ask me why its used to make weapons.

if you collect sand for alchemy or weapons upgrading, tripoli is the best place because it has the lowest chance of getting anything.

or just use search instead of procurement or collection, away from landing points to minimize chances of getting items

Seems to me The Sahara zone that's connected to Africa North Coast LP is a great place to gather Sand. The only other trade goods there are Ants (procurement), Salt, and Gold Dust (collection). Using only Search, you can get a lot of Sand there with so few competing trade goods present.
