It can be used in alchemy recipes as seen above plus it's a land battle item.
If you use it the npc will be "stuck" in the oil, he won't move/attack you for a certain period of time. Also, if you throw a torch after using the oil you'll get a combo thus doing much more damage than just throwing the torch alone (this can be done with any oil, not only spider oil)
But honestily, don't use it or the torches, the default for land battle should be Antidote and 3 good healings. I use medication, assorted medication and secret medication (assorted and secret medication bought in Nantes/Bordeaux, medication in Gijon or Calais)
But that is just a sugestion, there are better healings around, I use those because they are cheap, easy to obtain and are enough for me to solo Fort Santo Domingo...
