iv been 2 days sailing around gulf of guinea sea and never see the fleet.. any tips for me? i killed npc i found but still no venin merchant fleet shows up.

this fleet is moderately rare to see, even if can spawn in gulf of guinea (try these coordinates 4800,450), it's much easier to catch em in gold coast, not far from atlantic ocean central west coast landing

According to Marco's rare item plunder Blog, seems that this fleet will only spawn if a number of players (10 or more) are in the Gulf of Guinea at any given time.

Well, after 3 days of slow row grinding circling back and forth from Benin to Douala, i managed to spawn this 'unicorn' fleet on my own! The Problem was my toon was out of water, so during my efforts to summon my alt, this fleet disappeared on me :(

Three more days go by and like clockwork; in the exact same spot just south of Benin with only 4 people in the sea region that i could see, I was lucky enough to spawn this fleet a second time and engage battle. The fleet name is 'Venin Armed Merchant Fleet' and I was lucky enough to plunder this Eshu's Chalice on the first try!

My toon looks great now wearing the General's Cloak!

Spawned this fleet with 5-6 players in Gulf of Guinea right below Beni. You will need to kill off all the "benin transport fleets' before this will spawn. Spawn locations of these fleet are below:

Plundered this recently. Sailed around area just south of Benin killing all Venin Transport Fleets. After killing about five and 30 minutes, the fleet appeared. I had sailed around Sao Tome for about an hour before that so can't say whether it was the time or killing those fleets that triggered it.

There was only one fleet in area (that I could see) but Gulf of Guinea is not usually that active so I suspect having 10 players in the region is NOT a requirement. Been a long time coming but finally finished the General's Cloak MA. Happy Hunting!
