Anyone know the farm development level needed to make the Explorer's pickaxe and Suede?

I don't know where to look for development level but if it is the same as activity my mine activity is 155 and fishery 81 and I am able to make explorers pickaxe.

its an explorers item only as name suggests your thinking of 'reserve pickaxe' maybe-these are apparently npc drops dont know where

just so people's know, i just made one, it also has a use effect of search, so it won't decay at sea... +2 search and no decay, i like it, but you can't use them as the stock items at your farm, i just tried. but it's a real nice search item none-the-less

Do you need to have casting to make this?

After the search effect it has the number 10. Does that mean it will increase search by 10 ranks when using the effect?

Private farms allow you to produce items even without the skill listed (in this case, Casting). All that matters is that you have the required materials for production, and that your farm meets the minimum requirements for a recipe to appear, which in this case requires a technology degree of 100, and two facilities.

I suppose the number ten does indeed mean R10 Search when the item's used, but given its low durability, and the fact that I seem to recall you never get skill proficiency points when you use an item effect instead of the actual skill, I've never really tested that out for myself.
