Great success on these can make the defense go above 40. I've made a Gold-plated helmet with 52 defense (their base is 38). I don't know what the max possible on a Close helmet is. If my helm is max for Gold-plated, I'd guess that the max possible on a Close helmet is 47 or 48.

There's a difference between a close helmet and a gold-plated helmet. Gold-plated have a higher base defense so a higher max as well from great success.

the max defence and attack on all items is 100, the chance you would get that on a vlose helmet is very small, maybe even impossible.
but there still is a chance you would get a great succes helmet with 40 or 50 or even 60 defence on it

i think with blacksmith job and +1 shipwright's hammer and aide +1
you can make a close helmet up to 50Def

49 is the max you can get if people have higher they used forge tools on it and are trolling ivyro as usual

This helmet can be given to an Alchemist who can improve the def even more. I've seen a 53 def one and there is higher def ones.

been reading UWO's OGP forum just now and i find it very funny how ezio keep telling that he is a veteran player. iirc its not even 2 years since he started playing but still proudly claim to be a veteran. lol, he's as much joke as LZ.

and no gold-plated helm do not require this helm. and even if it did, the def wont carry over unless for forging recipe.

Thanks to Flotsam Search I'm holding a 57 deff version of these. Not sure if that is the crafting max, but picking up a discarded one might improve the stats more then crafting it seems. (others were 51, 50, 49, 47, 45, 41 deff, all with improved dura as well)

When used, Flotsam Search and Recognition only retrieve items which have been dropped by players - it cannot change the item's stats. Thus your helmet was already 57 defense when the previous owner dropped it (or lost it in battle, etc.).

35 def x 1.9 (GS on refined casting) = 66.5.
Made over 200 in order to get 4 with more then 60 Def, 66/62/62/61.
Not sure if 67 is possible, depends on how the game handles the 66.5, i am guessing 66 is max, usualy the game rounds down.
