I had ancient clothing in my strong box while just now opening a Classical art dealer's treasure chest and got a 2nd one. So that's 2 on one character but maybe only because one was in strongbox.

Actually both of Sakura and JR are right. Stop the arguement pls.
the clothes is originally came from "Ancient clothing map" ONLY, and no matter how many maps you repeat, you wont get it except the very first time you discovery it. It is a 1 time only item per character only if you obtain it by map it stated above. (same as those excalibur/Fragarach/other fancy items.)
There are also some other way to get it like chests (adv chest, maybe dungeon/Coliseum crests as well), but it is not straight forward.. those chests can also give you other items, i.e. not 100% guarantee to get the Ancient clothing from chests.

Depends on who you ask. Some swear things like this are a once-per-character drop, others say an extremely small percentage chance to get the item again exists. I have not personally experienced the second example, but neither have I tried all that hard for a repeat drop.

This clothing can be obtained additional times. It can be found for sale using Roman coins in hidden passages in Luxor middle & lower levels.
