Does evade melee work well? If it does then this ship will be the ultimate speed demon in battle. I hear that the acceleration is off the charts, and I think that in a cannonfight, it's hard to kill what you can't keep up with.
With the evade, that means people can't use the "hold and release crit" method on you in mass combat. With it's tremendous speed and accel it can pick off unsuspecting targets from afar.

Not perfect, but it will probably keep a pirate off you long enough to accel into sniping position.

the EA on this thing is a must. When used in combat, it out accelerates even rowing ships by leaps and bounds. And once at full speed, it's highly doubtful anything will be able to catch you unless you screw up royally.

This is probably the build that will be most decent.
the turn is somewhat substandard, it will be 14 turn if you -20% it, close enough to the 15 turn threshold. but for a non-nc ship it's as good as it gets.

Even with official plating and max dura, this boat does not have enough dura to survive against a true battle ship. I believe this boat is a clipper-killer that would be very good at running away from the big battle boats and rowboats.
I think a build more like 41713 does this boat justice. Trying to make this into some kind of super frigate isn't going to get you anything but sunk.
(the patrol corvette is in the same class as this boat, I go back and forth between which one I want for myself)

with 1251 durability it is still a good sniper ship, capable of avoiding meele and getting boxed in. I would not add emergency acceleration on this ship for only battle purposes, as using EA makes your turn bad. And you don't want to be sailing straight in battle, unless you are able to turn EA on/off every 5 seconds

I think the point that he is trying to make with EA, is that all important start-of-combat ramp up. If you can build up speed early on in the fight, you can keep your distance quite easily. After that you can switch it off until you need to put some distance between yourself and a pursuer that may be catching up.
I do agree that the dura kind of makes less sense, since you will be working to avoid getting within cannon16 kill range like crazy, if you screw up and let yourself get caught in that zone, even at max dura you will be hard pressed to survive.

Why do you want to put WR on it??? 41713 has excessive amounts of WR. You know that WR does NOTHING for you if you aren't carrying any cargo right? I battleship that has more than 11WR (just enough to make stormproof) is likely made by someone who has no idea what he is doing or what WR actually does.

You want turn (for obvious reasons, and also, you lose less speed in turns when chasing someone) and armor (for obvious reasons again AS WELL as the innate acceleration that comes with armor).
I think there was a very very good explanation on the mechanics of turn/WR/armor that was posted on another page, I think it was the MLS page. If you want to know what those 3 stats do for real instead of rumors of what they do, go check it out.

It's on the custom long schooner. and yes, good info. thing is WR always makes a difference unless you're one of those maritime types that have high level survival and run with no supplies, because cargo also includes supplies. Me, I go for a balance of turn and WR but on a non-battle ship I mostly want max sails, and plan accordingly and get a reasonable amount of both turn and WR. Maxing WR or turn or both and not maxing sails is kinda self-defeating.

Guys, This isn't a true battle ship. It just does not have the dura to go toe-to-toe with a true battle ship. That "excessive wr" is so that under any conditions you can reach maximum speed. Plain and simple this is a pirate boat, not a maritimer's boat. So even if you are loaded down with goods and provisions you can still chase if need be or run if need be.
I think people who are wanting to make one of these and then setting it up against a FIS or even a FCV are going to be disappointed in the outcome. Turn is great if you can get it, but even with max turn you will lose all your speed eventually with all the turning you do in battle, so I really dont' think turning EA on and off in a battle situation is going to do what you think it will. Plus what skill do you keep turned off so that you can constantly turn that one on? Are you really thinking you will have time to turn another skill off, turn EA on, turn it back off, then turn that other skill back on again?

I don't know, I saw a Survey Frigate in the last BC, although I think it was piloted by a 75/75/75, it sure as heck sank alot of people and was freaking hard to kill.

Nicola I think u mistaken waht liza and otehrs are saying. they are saying that the Survey frig is not an outstanding battleship like everyone thinks. anyway you said it yourself, the reason that survey frig looked good is probably more the player than the ship itself, in the hands of a good maritimers even lousy battleships can be very dangerous. the survey frig is a decent ship, so if you stick a good player in it, its as good as any other

not true, this frigate is fast....VEEERRYYY fast, coupled by the fact that you will fail to catch in melee most times make it VERY hard to do melee and park tactics on it. and while you are trying to chase it down with your nose pointed at it, a decent player will be able have many opportunities to crit you.
of course, if you try doing something st*&pid like play this ship as if it were an FCV and try to do close range duke-outs then you are asking to be sunk.
Its a sniper ship true and true and when played as one, it's super effective

oh and i forgot to mention, as a sniper ship, the dura is more than good enough, because unless you are a morooon or just plain unlucky, you should NOT be allowing your opponents to get you into the 'sweet spot range' for max damage cannon 16 crits, any crits outside that range is COMPLETELY survivable with 1200+ dura.

you obviously havent seen this thing in battle before. it outaccels 100 armor heavy ships, it out accels Ironsides, MSFs and the like (your classic snipers). one of the possible reasons is because it has EA, a good maritimer will pop EA to start the fight or to put distance between it and another sniper ship, then pop it off to put up Pene/ball/accu for the hurt.

eh I think he has a classic misunderstanding, armor affects accel yes....but more importantly is hull shape/type. why is it that RFs and the patrol corvette are so beastly fast in battle even though they have less armor? it's because of the ship type. there are many subtypes of ships in the heavy class.

I saw this in BC as well, after the fight was over i asked the player using it if he liked it. He said no. Just sayin'. Good pirate boat, but I don' think you will ever see very many of them in esf or BC.
