You can go from Marseille. There is a carriage in the Square that will take you to Paris.

so let me get this straight: in order to start a trend, i must exhibit items that has a city next to it? like the zenobia's short sword with alexandria and darius III's armor with Hormuz?

Zenobia's short sword is Beirut not Alexandria

Just exhibit any item on the right day, the kind of trend that will activate depends of the region of your item.

how trend works ? yesterday i put short poncho into the large hall (90M) and nothing happened :(
Spy.05-01-2013
Random
And putting something in the large hall doesn't guarantee you a definite trend :P

Is there any way to gain the day's cultural contribution if I afk-bazaar the night instead of log off and back on in the morning?

How do you get a trend to start anyway? Anything special I need to do?

Hans

Shirin just exhibit something at the Louvre (as it's been pointed out already) and theres a small chance a trend will start in your home city based on the culture area your exhibit came from. I did find the game factors in the following:
Cultural contribution - higher ranking means better chance of trend starting
Trendsetter title - Im not sure how you acquire this, but it increases the odds too.
Large hall - Putting exhibits in the large hall rather then the smaller ones helps the odds.
I cant confirm this but supposedly if other players of your nation exhibits an artifact from the same culture area (North Africa, SE asia, etc) that might boost the odds of a trend starting in your capital too.

To add on Hans' explanation: Trendsetter title is gained when you trigger your first cultural trend outbreak. Lorenzo de'Medici (the NPC from Florence) will want to meet with you in the Paris museum. After a short conversation with him, he grants you the title of Trendsetter (can be changed into at any time from your other titles), as well as these two items:
Trendsetter's Hat
Trendsetter's Dress
By the way, I triggered my first cultural trend (and netted the title/eq) from displaying in my country's small gallery with a 4-star display. Just keep trying, and eventually, you'll get it.

5-star in national small gallery here, with mediocre cultural contribution accumulated up to that point, rank 4 or 5 perhaps. Must have been lucky.

What is the 'Extra Liner' for ?
Snipe09-08-2014
when there is a trend in a city, there will be a liner going to that city, which will last the duration on the trend (1 week)
Alzalith01-14-2021
how does this work for ottoman players?
Guilder01-15-2021
I believe they can display ornaments as well but it will show their nation of origin's flag instead of the Ottoman flag. In the event of a cultural outbreak, a liner will open between their original nation and whichever region the ornament belonged to, along with the other culture benefits.
But not being an Ottoman, perhaps I'm mistaken. Somebody feel free to correct me on this
